Awards
The NCPAA values the hard that public administration practitioners, students, and faculty put into making North Carolina a better place for everyone. To recognize the outstanding contributions that members of our community make, the NCPAA presents several awards at year at our Annual Conference.
Public Servant of the Year
The Public Servant of the Year Award recognizes the significant contributions to the State of North Carolina that the recipient has made throughout a career of ten years or more. Award recipients will have distinguished themselves through their current active engagement in and contributions to developing the public service of the future. Recipients can be recognized with the award only once during a ten year period. Nominations for the award from from NCPAA member programs and members of the NCPAA Board of Directors.
Recipients:
- 2023: Duane Holder, Wake County
- 2021: Terry Bellamy, Madison County Economic Development Board
Early Career Public Servant of the Year
The Early Career Public Servant of the Year Award recognizes the significant contributions to the State of North Carolina that the recipient has made during the first five years of the career. Award recipients will have distinguished themselves early on in the career and show promise of continued active engagement in and contributions to developing the public service of the future. Recipients can be recognized with the award only once. Nominations for the award from from NCPAA member programs and members of the NCPAA Board of Directors.

- 2023: Allysa Rouse, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
- 2021: Will Crabtree, Mecklenburg County
President’s Award
The President’s Award is presented by the President of the NCPAA to in recognition of the significant contributions to the NCPAA and the field of public administration.

- 2021: Hunter Bacot, University of North Carolina Greensboro
